Modern Slavery Statement

Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning Modern Slavery Statement

This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.

Our Business and Supply Chains

Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet, upholstery and related cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our operations are primarily based in the United Kingdom. Our supply chains include providers of cleaning products and equipment, workwear, vehicles, facilities services and certain outsourced administrative functions.

We understand that risks of modern slavery can exist at different tiers of these supply chains, particularly where sourcing involves manufacturing, transportation, warehousing and outsourced labour. We therefore work to identify and manage those risks in a proportionate and responsible way.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, forced labour, child labour and human trafficking. This applies to all aspects of our business, and to all suppliers, contractors and other third parties who provide goods or services to Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning.

We expect everyone who works for or with us to uphold the same high standards. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated seriously and may result in the termination of business relationships and, where appropriate, reporting to relevant authorities.

Standards for Employees and Workers

All individuals working for Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning, whether directly employed or engaged through third parties, must be free to work of their own accord and must receive fair pay for their work. We do not tolerate the withholding of passports, wages or personal documents, or the imposition of recruitment fees or unlawful deductions.

We aim to provide a safe and respectful workplace, where workers are treated with dignity. All staff are expected to comply with our policies on equality, health and safety, and ethical conduct. New joiners are informed of our stance on modern slavery as part of their induction.

Supplier Due Diligence and Audits

We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors who share our values and demonstrate compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws. As part of our due diligence, we assess the modern slavery risks associated with new and existing suppliers, taking into account the nature of the goods or services, the geographic location, and the structure of their own supply chains.

Where we identify higher risk, we may request evidence of policies, codes of conduct and workforce protections. We reserve the right to conduct or commission audits of suppliers, either on a scheduled basis or in response to concerns. These audits may include site visits, document reviews and confidential worker interviews, as appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk.

Suppliers who do not meet our expectations or fail to demonstrate adequate steps to address modern slavery risks may be required to implement corrective action plans within defined timeframes. Persistent non-compliance can lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.

Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels

We encourage anyone connected to our business, including employees, contractors, agency workers and suppliers, to raise concerns about potential modern slavery or human rights abuses at the earliest opportunity. Concerns can be reported to line managers or senior management, or escalated through our internal reporting channels.

All reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith, even if those concerns are not subsequently substantiated. Where appropriate, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement or other competent authorities.

Training and Awareness

We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among key staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management and recruitment. Training and guidance focus on recognising warning signs, understanding our policies and knowing how to respond to concerns.

We expect managers to promote our values, lead by example and reinforce our zero-tolerance approach in their day-to-day decision making and interactions with suppliers and workers.

Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement

We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires vigilance, reflection and improvement. We will review this Modern Slavery Statement and our related policies and procedures on an annual basis, or sooner if there are significant changes to our business or relevant legislation.

As part of this annual review, we will evaluate the effectiveness of our actions, including supplier due diligence, audits, training and reporting mechanisms. We will consider feedback from stakeholders and developments in good practice to identify opportunities for improvement.

This Statement has been approved by the management of Shoreditch Carpet Cleaning and will be updated each year to reflect our continuing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all its forms.
